From a fujoshi perspective, that big boy up there, his name is Minato Atago – and back in in Junior High, he and Ōharano were pretty tight. In Volume 13 we meet the Hiratsuka Gakuin team and we see that Minato has replaced Ōharano with a less savory version of THE blond power bottom:
There’s a lot of twinks on this team – and that’s the point. Once Toyama took over the team, he stacked it with idol-boys (boys popular with girls) because when girls show up at games, then everyone shows up at games.
Don’t be fooled by his friendliness. Toyama and his Twinks make the bitches from Sagami look like the girl scouts. They cheat with high drama and fake injuries. It’s a pity we couldn’t see them play Sagami – that would’ve been so choice.
One thing I noticed about this volume is how close Raita and Ōharano got during the whole Kanegawa Prefecture play-offs arc. It’s why I friend-SHIP them, and not wholesale ship them. 👇
As for fujo-goggles drama, Volume 13 & 14 got it all:

Noka and Suwa in particular. I did notice Shiori-sensei throwing the Ebumi/Noka shippers a bone in this arc:
Of course Noka follows Ebumi and they discuss Noka wanting to quit Rubgy. That conversation alone is worth the price of the volume, so go buy it.
